Learn the rules of classic casino poker

For those players new to the world of casino poker, be sure to have a clear understanding of which kind of poker game you are entering into. In classic casino poker, the poker rules are basic. The object of the game is for players to each place bets based on the worth of their hand (or their card combination). Throughout the betting rounds in poker, each player will get the chance to discard cards and have them replaced. Consequently, ones' betting hand can improve as the rounds go on, and one's bets in the pots may get bigger. These forced bets are known as a blind or an ante.

As in most games, the card value in poker increases as the cards get larger. Remember, the aces are always high. When you are deciding whether or not to take a new card, be sure to analyze your hand first. If you have matching, cards of a similar suit, or cards that have a numerical order to them (for example, 2,3,4,5,6) these are the kinds of cards you want to keep. Conventional hand rankings – in order of most successful to least succesful – are as follows: Royal Flush, Straight Flush, Four-of-a-Kind, Full House, Flush, Straight, Three-of-a-Kind, Two Pair, Pair and High Card. A casino poker winner can also be the only one left in the hand, after everyone else has folded.

But again, be careful which casino poker version you are playing. Community card poker games like Omaha Poker or Texas Hold'em Poker follow very different rules.
